Photo: Vancouver Lives Here

It's safe to say there's been no event of this scale in Vancouver since the Olympics. Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final was held yesterday, and for everyone who couldn't find a spot in the arena, the city closed off a big chunk of Granville Street so CBC could air the game off a big-screen mounted on a semi trailer. This is the intersection of West Georgia and Granville at approximately 4:20 PM, a bit before the game proper had even started. I heard crowd forecasts of something like forty thousand for this; I'd believe it.

That dude in the San Francisco Giants cap really does stick out in a sea of Canucks jerseys.
