PDP #244: Waters of the Wilderness

There isn't much left that's really "wild" in eastern Canada anymore. It's been settled in depth too long, and most of it has been plowed up for development. The general impression I get is that nature here has been brought to heel, and exists at the sufferance of the cities that dot it.

Out west, the situation is different. In Metro Vancouver it's possible to step off a bus, walk ten minutes, and be in a place that might as well be another planet. At Lynn Canyon Park, Lynn Creek is a sterling example of this. Aside from a single flagpole and the footprints of visitors, there was no trace of any human habitation or presence I could find. Seeing the clear, cool creek rushing over the rocks afforded a worthwhile perspective.
